At Home Tech/Device Check

At Home Tech/Device Check

Dear SEA Families,

In anticipation of possible e-learning days, SEA will do a technology check by sending home devices on Wednesday, January 25th. This tech check will ensure that families have working devices for at home e-learning days when/if school is closed for extreme winter weather.

  • Kdg - 2nd-grade students will bring their iPads and chargers home.
  • 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders will bring their Chromebooks, chargers, and cases home.

Please check the following to ensure that your child is prepared for potential e-learning day(s).

  • Can you connect your school device to the internet from home?

  • Can you log in to your child’s learning platform, Seesaw for 1st-3rd or Schoology for 4th and 5th?

  • Can you also log in to Clever via either device?

If you have difficulty accessing your child’s learning platform, please send a message to sea_techsupport@rdale.org. Someone will respond to support as soon as they are able.

You will receive specific log in instructions with your device/technology when it is sent home from school. Please see the below information on how to connect the device to your home internet.

We view iPads and Chromebooks as educational tools for student learning. Students use their devices daily at school. The device, case, and charger must return to school on Thursday, January 26.  Also, please make sure the device is charged before returning to school. It is recommended to charge devices overnight outside of your child’s bedroom.

If we have an e-learning day, you would receive notification the following methods:

  • Websites, district and school sites
  • Social Media:
    • Twitter
    • Instagram
    • Facebook - district and school pages
  • Automated Telephone Message
  • Automated Text Notifications
  • Email notifications

If your family has internet access barriers, please notify our media specialist, Mr. Witzke, at brian_witzke@rdale.org. We have a limited number of hotspots. If a hotspot is sent home, please return it with the charger and bag when no longer needed.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding this communication, feel free to reach out to: heather_hanson@rdale.org

Sincerely,
Dr. Heather Hanson
